Breed History

The German Shepherd was developed in Germany in the
late 1800s by Captain Max von Stephanitz. He aimed to create the perfect
herding dog — intelligent, hardworking, and versatile. Today, they’re widely
used in police, military, rescue, and service work
globally.

Appearance

• Body: Strong, athletic, and well-balanced
• Coat: Medium-length double coat (dense undercoat)
• Colors: Black and tan (most common), sable, black, bi-color, or white (rare)
• Ears: Pointed and erect
